Sports Massage

Sports and Remedial Massage is well-known for its benefits for athletes, but the techniques can also be used to help a broad range of people, whatever your level of activity. This type of treatment involves a mixture of massage, joint mobilisation and stretching techniques. It can treat and help prevent many types of pain, discomfort and injury, whether generated by sport, general physical activity such as gardening or DIY, a physical job, prolonged sitting, computer usage or a chronic health condition.

For sport

Sports massage  is useful for sportspeople, amateur or professional, if you:
  • are training for an event and want to ensure you do the best you can on the day
  • want to improve your sports performance by ensuring that your muscles and joints work optimally
  • would like to recover quickly from hard training sessions, movement restrictions or injuries
  • wish to minimise your risk of injury and to prevent recurrent injury from returning
  • are getting older and would like to be able to continue doing the sport you love.

Viv has particular experience working with committed amateur athletes in the following sports, to help them resolve injuries, remain injury free and maximise their performance in the sport they love:
Distance running, athletics, swimming, cycling, endurance events, trekking and hiking, climbing, skiing, hockey, netball, martial arts.


For daily life and wellbeing

Sports and remedial massage is also useful for people who would like a regular, maintenance appointment to keep on top of muscular tension, aches and pains. This can be useful if you feel a bit stiff and inflexible, if you sit a lot at a desk, do a lot of gardening, have a physical job  or have a chronic health condition that gives you muscular and joint discomfort. It's also great if you just feel as if you need a good sort out with no specific reason other than to feel better!
