About me and Move Well Massage
I'm Viv Slater. In the past I've competed in sport at national and county level (rowing, athletics), and more recently I've commuted, sat for years in an office chair, had 2 children then carried them around. As a result I've experienced many injuries and aches, including long-term low back pain.
Having had numerous types of treatment over many years, I became interested in how the body works, and this sparked my interest in becoming a sports and remedial massage therapist. I'm passionate about what I do and want to help others get the results I've had from this type of treatment.
Because I've had my share of chronic pain and sports injury I hope that I can put myself in your shoes. I really try to listen and help you get as much as possible out of treatment - I know how frustrating it can be to be held back by injury, pain, discomfort or restricted movement, whether in daily life or sport. During treatment, I explain to you what I am doing and why, to help you learn about and take control of your body.
I've done the highest level of sports and remedial massage qualification in the UK (see homepage) so you can expect the best treatment in this field. I also do regular continuous professional development to learn new techniques that I can use to help you. I treated athletes at the London 2012 Paralympics and work at events such as the London Marathon, Windsor Triathlon and Thame 10k to support charitable causes and be involved with competitive sport.
Testimonials
I first visited Viv after sustaining a running injury. I had tried to 'run through' the injury but it had got worse over several months. After seeing Viv and following the exercises she recommended, the injury had gone within 2 weeks. Viv is dedicated, caring and professional. She really listens to what you say and works with you. I have continued to see Viv as she has helped me to deal with my fibromyalgia, when my muscles and joints are very painful. My sessions have not just helped me to continue running they have helped me to improve and I have more effective pain management now. I cannot recommend Viv highly enough.
LP, runner/teacher.
As an older person fairly new to running and wanting to avoid any sports injuries, Viv has helped me prepare and recover well following my training runs and marathons. Viv's treatments are also helping me regain some of the suppleness in my back and neck I had when I was younger. The exercises Viv has suggested are definitely helping my back feel stronger and more flexible.

I come out from a treatment with Viv feeling 2 inches taller. I find it easier now to sit and stand straighter.
SG, Office Manager
Not only is Viv thorough, identifying the problem area quickly, she cures it quickly too. Also included is a relaxing and friendly service.
JC, runner/mum
Viv helped me recover from shin splints then plantar fasciitis so I could compete again, in fact since then I've improved my PB.
HY, triathlon competitor
Thanks to Viv I've regained feeling and control in one of my legs that I hadn't had for years due to an old back injury. I've also obtained relief from plantar fasciitis, which gave me tender heels, so that walking was unsteady and painful. Not only did Viv relieve the immediate pain, but her encouragement and clear explanations gave me an understanding of how to help myself through exercise and proper movement. Physically I am now much less tense generally and I can't thank her enough for the body confidence and control she has instilled in me.
